Both are authorized by IRCC to represent clients. Immigration lawyers are licensed by provincial law societies (Law Society of Ontario) and can represent you in Federal Court. CICC-regulated consultants (RCICs) are licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. URK Immigration employs both — your file is handled by the right professional for its complexity.
Verify Law Society of Ontario licensing on the LSO public registry and CICC registration on the CICC registry. Be cautious of anyone who is neither. Look for Google reviews and clear specialization in your immigration category. URK Immigration’s credentials are publicly verifiable and we welcome that check.
It varies widely by program. Express Entry targets 6 months from invitation to PR. Spousal sponsorship averages 15–21 months (outland/inland). PNP nominations add 30–90 days for the provincial stage. URK Immigration provides case-specific timeline projections in the free initial assessment.
Inland means the applicant is physically present in Canada when the application is filed. Outland means they are outside Canada. For spousal sponsorship, inland applicants may be eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit while waiting; outland applicants retain travel flexibility and the right of IAD appeal on refusal.
