A Starting Point for Your Application

Document requirements are application-specific and updated by IRCC periodically. Using an outdated form version is one of the most common R10 return triggers. Confirm exact requirements with a licensed consultant or lawyer before submission.

Spousal Sponsorship — Core Documents

Sponsor: IMM 1344, IMM 5481, valid PR card or Canadian passport, proof of status, identity documents, proof of relationship

Applicant: IMM 0008, IMM 5669, IMM 5406, IMM 5532, police certificates from all countries of residence since age 18, valid passport, IRCC-spec photos

Relationship evidence: Marriage certificate with certified translation if not in English or French; full-timeline photos; communication records; joint financial records; statutory declarations from independent witnesses

Express Entry — Core Documents

Language: IELTS or CELPIP (English) / TEF or TCF (French) — must be under 2 years old at ITA date

Education: ECA from a recognized body (WES, ICAS, etc.) for non-Canadian credentials

Work experience: Employment letters confirming dates, hours, NOC code, and responsibilities for all qualifying periods

Police certificates: From all countries where you lived 6+ months since age 18

Proof of funds: Bank statements for past 3 months if not in Canada on a work permit
